Carib Cup heads into semifinals

The Caribbean Cup is into its semifinal stage after quarterfinal results were completed last Sunday at Jefferson High School Field on Shepherd and Flatlands avenues in Flatlands, Brooklyn. Last Sunday, Nigel Codrington scored in the 60th minute to give Guyana a 1-0 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines in one of two quarterfinal games; in the other quarterfinal, defending champion Jamaica beat Panama.

In the previous quarterfinal match ups the week before, St. Lucia won by forfeit over Antigua and Barbuda, and Grenada pummeled Trinidad and Tobago, 6-0. On Sunday, Aug. 26, starting at 3:00 p.m., St. Lucia plays Jamaica in the first semifinal while Grenada takes on Guyana in the other. The championship game is set for Sunday, Sept. 2.

In the Bronx New York International Soccer League, which plays its games at Evander Childs High School Field near Gun Hill Road and Eastchester Avenue in the Bronx, the semifinal field is set to kick off on Sunday, Aug. 26. Arantes takes on Upsetters at 5:00 p.m. and undefeated Havoc plays Kandia immediately after.
