West Indies allrounder Kieron Pollard jumped 17 places to a career best 33rd in the latest ICC One-Day International Batting Rankings following his Man-of-the-Series earning performance in the recent five-match series against Australia.
Pollard scored 222 runs at an average of 55.50 throughout the rubber to become the regional tam’s joint highest rated batsman, going even with Chris Gayle while Lendl Simmons (35th), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (39th) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (45th).
Captain Darren Sammy and allrounder Andre Russell also achieved the highest batting positions in their career. Sammy (160 runs, ave.: 53.33) went up 44 spots to 72nd while Russell (113 runs, ave.: 28.25) jumped nine places to 64th.
The leading ODI batsman in the world is South African Hashim Amla with his teammate AB De Villers and Indian Virat Kohli in second and third, respectively.
Meanwhile, offspinner Narine (11 wickets, ave.: 14.45) jumped 78 places tol 58th after his stellar series while Kemar Roach (11 wickets, ave.: 20.45) gained eight places to move to 17th after the third ODI before conceding 74 runs off 9.3 overs in the fourth match.
Sammy is West Indies’ top rated allrounder in 16th, with Russell (18th) and Pollard (19th). That list is headed by Bangladesh’s Skakib Al Hasan.
