Open letter to President Barack Obama

To the Editor:

I, Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely write to express my prayers and congratulations on your re-election for another four-year term as president of the United States. Queen Mother Audley Moore represented 55 million African Descendants of the transatlantic slave trade who fought for reparations and lived to be almost one 100 years old, and as a matter of traditional rite and spiritual continuity I carry her legacy. I am the Community Mayor of Harlem and Ambassador of Goodwill to Africa. I take great pleasure in nominating Ambassador Susan Elizabeth Rice, as the next United States Secretary of State. Ambassador Rice is supremely qualified as a candidate for this very important office.

I have observed Ambassador Rice perform her duties as United States Ambassador to the United Nations for the past four years and she has served the United States with grace, pride, integrity and dignity.

Ambassador Rice is an African American woman born in Washington D.C. and highly trained for the post. Ambassador Rice was trained and mentored in foreign affairs and diplomacy by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright whom we lobbied for as the first woman United States Secretary of State appointed by President Bill Clinton. Ambassador Rice is the mother of two children and the world is in need of the sensitivity of nurturing mothers to achieve urgently needed global peace and amity between member states.

I highly recommend Ambassador Susan Rice to be appointed as United States Secretary of State. I have been involved with United Nations in Global affairs resolution for 43 years.

Peace and Blessings

Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely

Community Mayor of Harlem

Ambassador of Goodwill to Africa
