Sisters Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell skyrocketed in 2000 with their pioneering crossover hit “Shackles (Praise You)” with a mission to send uplifting messages through music and words that are relatable to everyone. The chart-topping sisters, who have earned three GRAMMY Awards, two American Music Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and a BET Award, will bring their extraordinary ensemble for an unforgettable and uplifting evening in the Bronx.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway.

Mary Mary, sisters Erica and Tina, were born in Inglewood, California to an evangelist/choir director mother and a youth minister father and grew up singing in church choirs. After studying vocal performance at local El Camino College, they joined the lineup of traveling gospel shows and toured as backup singers for several R&B acts.

Three years later, songwriter/producer Warryn Campbell played a pivotal role in the sisters’ career, helping them secure a song publishing deal with EMI, and becoming their long-time producer and collaborator. Soon after, the pair began accumulating writing and performance credits on soundtracks and songs recorded by various artists.

With their platinum-selling, GRAMMY-winning debut album Thankful, Mary Mary hit a homerun, due in part to the success of its first single, 2000’s “Shackles (Praise You),” with its messages of hope that touched both young people and adults. After the sisters’ follow-up, 2002’s Incredible, was certified gold, they released their self-titled album Mary Mary (2005), featuring such hits as “Heaven,” “The Real Party” and “Yesterday.” The duo’s success continued with the release of an acclaimed holiday project, A Mary Mary Christmas, in 2006.

The Sound (2008) sparked the group’s best mainstream success to date, bowing at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the publication’s R&B/hip-hop chart. The CD garnered numerous awards, including a GRAMMY for its record-breaking hit single “God in Me.”

Their latest CD, 2011’s critically acclaimed Something Big, debuted at #10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and immediately shot to the top of the iTunes R&B albums chart. The duo partnered with The Red Cross for the music video of their current single, “Survive,” to raise awareness among their fan base about the disaster relief efforts occurring across the nation.

In conjunction with the release of the album, Mary Mary launched the Facebook-based “Do Something Big” Campaign, where fans participate in a five-week call-to-action to “Do Something Big” for others, focusing each week on a different segment of those in need — the elderly, the homeless, local schools, local neighborhoods and world hunger. “It’s not just about musical achievements, awards, charts and sales,” says Erica. “That’s not our guiding light. It’s about connecting with people and offering them real hope…hope that, ultimately, changes lives.”
