Caribbean artistes showcase their talent

The Caribbean Cultural Conference which began on Sept. 21 ends today with an artist showcase at Webster Hall at 6:30 p.m. Webster Hall is located at 125 East 11th St. in Manhattan.

Performers at this event include Ed Robinson, Lyrikal, Mario Evon and DJ Mastermind.

The conference is an annual event planned to bring together entertainment industry stakeholders to explore, examine the obstacles confronting the advancement of the Caribbean entertainment industry.

Originally from Trinidad, Lyrikal has been performing and recording music throughout the New York metro area since 2003. His talent has reached many listeners, including artists such as Wu Tang Clan and Sean Paul.

Mario Evon is a Jamaican rising star, creating his own niche of the Reggae-Soul genre. He defines his music as the place where R&B and Soul meets Reggae and a touch of Dancehall.

In the Reggae Recording industry, Ed ‘ER’ Robinson has proven that he is able to deliver some high-quality music. His version of Bob Dylan’s “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” was his biggest hit internationally to date. Robinson is also known as a drummer and businessman. He is the owner of TifTam Recording Studios (Jamaica), E2 Recordinrk.g Studios, E2 Records and E.R.M.A. Entertainment (New York) stands out as a beacon of hope for internationally known and up coming artist.

Caribbean-American DJ MasterMind began deejaying in the late 90s graduating his way up to concerts, nightclubs, college circuits, and radio shows throughout the New York City area and internationally.

The 2011 Caribbean Cultural Music Conference began with a conference opening networking event on Sept. 21 at Negril Village located at 70 West 3rd St., New York, New York.

The following day at the Marriott Marquis hotel there was a panel discussion on the following topics: inside the production booth, music publishing, Jamaicanmusic.com, brand building, endorsement, and marketing music in the digital age.

On the second day of the conference participants discussed artist management, navigating the new music business, financial management tips, do’s and don’ts of touring, the changing face of radio and how the artist can use radio effectively.
