West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor has been awarded the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year title for 2011.
Meanwhile, West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was voted the ICC Emerging Player of the Year at the recent International Cricket Council Awards in London.
Taylor, 20, played 10 ODIs during the voting period, scoring 610 runs at an average of 76.25, while also accounting for 15 victims with her off-spin.
She also grabbed five wickets and made 49 runs in Twenty20 Internationals.
Taylor staved off competition from the English pair of Charlotte Edwards and Lydia Greenway and Australia’s Shelley Nitschke who was last year’s winner.
The award completes a successful year for Taylor who was part of the West Indies side that won the ICC Women’s Twenty20 Cricket Challenge in South Africa.
Bishoo overcame competition from his team-mate Darren Bravo and the Pakistani pair of Wahab Riaz and Azhar Ali. The award was announced by England’s Ian Bell, who won it in 2006.
Bishoo, 25, played in five Test matches in the voting period and took 21 wickets at an average of 35.42. He also picked up 19 wickets at 21.57 in ll ODIs.
