Auditions for young dance hopefuls

The world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Ailey School will be holding auditions for young hopefuls for its Professional Division training programs Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17.

Auditions will take place Saturday at noon: Certificate Program (for ages 17-23), Independent Study Program (for ages 17-25); Sunday, 10:00 a.m.: Scholarship Program (ages 15-21) for female dancers and 3:00 p.m. for male dancers.

The Ailey School offers one of the most extensive dance education programs in the world, training approximately 3,500 students and offering more than 300 scholarships annually, as well as a pioneering Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program with Fordham University.

Now under the direction of Tracy Inman and Melanie Person, The Ailey School has a faculty of 75 dance specialists and has attracted students from more than 93 countries.
