Manning Up: How the Rise of Women Has Turned Men into Boys

St. Francis College and the Manhattan Institute present a talk by social critic Kay S. Hymowitz on her new book, Manning Up: How the Rise of Women Has Turned Men into Boys, on Monday, Apr. 4, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the college’s Maroney Forum for Arts, Culture & Education.

St. Francis College is located at 180 Remsen St., Brooklyn Heights. www.stfranciscollege.edu

Hymowitz’s lecture will be followed up with comments from two St. Francis professors: Michelle Hirsch, chair of the Psychology Department and History Professor Eric Platt.

In her book, Hymowitz argues that men in their twenties and thirties have become ground zero for two radical shifts in contemporary life: delayed adulthood and an increasingly female-friendly economy. She claims that as women begin to climb the ladder of success outside the home—out-performing, out-earning, and out-maturing males—men struggle to retain their traditional place in society.

Kay Hymowitz, who is also the author of, Marriage and Caste in America: Separate and Unequal Families in a Post-Marital Age, among other books is a senior fellow at The Manhattan Institute

St. Francis College, founded in 1859 by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, is located in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. Since its founding, the College has pursued its Franciscan mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to students from New York City’s five boroughs and beyond.
