Barbadian Campbell Rudder has been named vice president of marketing, USA with the Barbados Tourism Authority. He begins working in that capacity from March 21, 2011.

Key officials in the travel and tourism industry have supported his appointment, and pledged to give full support.

They have said that the Barbados Tourism Authority has made a good move when it appointed Rudder, on its team.

“There is no doubt about it, Rudder has a track record for his marketing skills. He has been out there for over two decades in the same field. The man must be given credit,” said educator/author Walter Edey.

According to others in the travel and tourism industry, his experience working for Trinidad and Tobago (BWIA), Jamaica (Air Jamaica) and now Barbados again proves that the decision makers of these countries see the potentials of Rudder.

For many years Rudder has been keeping close ties with the Caribbean. He has been a regular player out there dealing and interacting with directors and ministers of tourism from the region or leaders in the communities.

“The relationship has benefited the region in terms of tourism. He is known and well respected in the tourism and travel industry,” said Cynthia Bennett, travel and tourism consultant.

“What Jamaica has lost, there is no doubt that Barbados will benefit substantially by the services of Campbell Rudder,” said Bennett.

Prior to joining the Barbados Tourism Authority, Rudder was director of sales and marketing for Air Jamaica (North America) interacting with tourism officials on a daily basis.
