Del.icio.usGEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — A woman is accusing the chief of Guyana’s National Police of rape and says several officers refused to take her complaint.
The 34-year-old woman tells reporters in the South American country that Chief Henry Greene took her to a hotel and raped her. She alleges the incident occurred in late November.
She made the accusation Wednesday accompanied by her lawyer at a news conference arranged by a women’s group.
The lawyer has filed a written complaint to police. The department has not said whether there is an investigation.
Greene has declined to comment in detail, saying: “Let God be the judge.”
The U.S. revoked Greene’s visa in 2006 over alleged links to drug trafficking. He has denied the allegations.
