Del.icio.usKings County Hospital Center (KCHC) welcomed its first baby of the New Year at 7:30 a.m. Weighing in at 8 lbs. 3 oz., Jakai Carrasquillo was born to Keshana Scott and Michael Carrasquillo. Both mother and baby are doing well.
Charles H. Bowers, Jr., M.D., chief of Ob/Gyn Service said, “In 2010 we delivered nearly 3,000 newborns. We provide complete obstetrical services and are staffed to handle any obstetric condition, routine or emergent. Our floor is staffed 24/7 by two board certified obstetricians. We have an experienced nursing staff averaging more than 10 years experience and our Labor & Delivery is the most state-of-the-art facility in Brooklyn.”
Chief Nursing Officer Opal Sinclair-Chung, R.N., said, “Every year, we welcome the first new mom with a beautiful bouquet and a gift bag with a silver spoon. This is our way of wishing a bright future for baby and family.”
Kings County Hospital Center is the hub institution for the Central Brooklyn Family Health Network, which is led by Senior Vice President Antonio D. Martin. It is a member facility of NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation, and has undergone major renovations over the past decade. Founded in 1831, this year marks the hospital’s 180th anniversary.
