Del.icio.usAll roads will lead to the capital city on Saturday July 10, where Guyana’s Ambassador to Washington DC, Bayney Karran, and Karib Nation – One People, One Color - will welcome an estimated massive crowd of Guyanese and Caribbean nationals alike, to celebrate the first ever “Guyana Cultural Festival.”
According to organizers - “Guyfest,” slated for the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, located at 1450 Generals Highway, Crownsville in Maryland - is a celebration of Guyana’s unique cultural heritage that draws from the traditions of its African, Amerindian, Chinese, European, Indian and Portuguese roots.
With some of the country’s most prominent artiste on top, organizers will pull out all of the stops to entertain, and engage the nationals during an all-day spectacular fueled by music, art and festive fare for an unforgettable celebration. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m.
The entertainment line-up will include big names such as Terry Gajraj and the Supertones Band, Adrian Dutchin, Tony Recardo, Angels Caribbean Band, Geeta Bisram, Timeka Marshall, Shelly G & Fojo, Brutal Jammers and many more.
In addition, organizers are mounting a visual and performing arts segment that will include traditional folk dances, theatre, spoken word, as well as an arts and sculpture exhibition.
A fashion show is also scheduled, while children will engage in plaiting a Maypole.
