With a 4-octave range, the multi-talented Arlee Leonard sings jazz and blues with heart and soul.
Her style is probably credited to the fact that she has been singing all her life, since her beginnings in the coffee houses and clubs of Detroit Michigan at the tender age of age of six, with her legendary parents, blues & folk duo “David & Roselyn.”
In 1991, Arlee toured with them to several European countries and the rest, as they say, is history because she’s been on stage ever since.
Today Arlee Leonard plays to sold-out clubs and concert halls. With wide acclaim she is a highly respected jazz artist whose constant travel takes her from Singapore to Africa and back again.
On Wednesday, July 7, from 12:45-1:30pm. Arlee Leonard will be the guest of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz as part of his Summer Plaza Concert Series at Borough Hall, sponsored by Con Edison.
Brooklyn is Arlee’s home town and her midday appearance is courtesy of Great Women In Music.
This October, Great Women In Music will host their 10th Anniversary Festival and of course Arlee Leonard will be one of the featured performers. In celebration of their first decade Great Women In Music will present a stunning list of unforgettable artistes in venues throughout New York City.
On Wednesday, July 7, The Arlee Leonard trio will feature Misha Tsiganov on piano, Essiet Essiet on bass and Dwayne “Cook” Broadnax on drums. Arlee has just returned this month from a concert tour of the Ukraine with Jazz in Kiev.
“We are so glad she’s back home in Brooklyn with her powerful jazz riffs and her warm swinging groove,” a fan exclaims.
Come on out to Borough Hall and enjoy this rare song-bird. Admission is free.
