W.I. can dominate world cricket by 2012

With proper effective planning and the correct strategies implemented, the West Indies cricket team can rise to dominance in the cricket world. The West Indies Cricket Board needs to have much more research done to find the reasons for the downfall of the West Indies cricket team. Talented players are around but these players have to be properly nurtured.

Presently, the West Indies have the experienced players at hand along with skillful young players ready to do battle on the field. It is regrettable that the series in Sri Lanka was not completed with the days alotted. It would have been a good experience for the young players to get the full exposure on different wickets and conditions over there. Apart from the Tests shattered by bad weather, the one-day international would have been very exciting and challenging.

Spinners Would Be The W.I. Trump Card

It would soon be necessary for the West Indies cricket team to have two specialist spinners in the Test squad. Fast bowling should not be relied on totally. The variety in bowling is what does it most of the times in modern cricket. I do not believe that the West Indies selectors are fully aware of the quality of players around and their potentials.

In Test cricket in order to come out winning, many wickets must be taken. When the batsmen make runs, the bowlers have to come on strong and take wickets. James Anderson of England has proven this so many times along with Zaheer Khan of India. These two bowlers are quality at its best on any wickets. They are wicket takers. This clearly comes to what the West Indies need to win test matches.

The West Indies team comes up against India and Pakistan in 2011 and the selectors should get the correct squad in place to do battle with the strong teams approaching.

Test Cricket Material

Davendra Bishoo should be in the West Indies test squad in 2011. He represented Guyana and the West Indies “ A” team and he showed his class as a wicket taker. The West Indies selectors need to have players in place in order to compete successfully. Bishoo is ready for the task and the West Indies selectors must not delay in giving this young bowler a go at the senior level.

Sulieman Benn and Davendra Bishoo seem to be the most suitable spinners for Test cricket and both bowlers have the abilities of taking wickets frequently. Bishoo must be introduced to Test cricket very soon for he would be the strike bowler that the West Indies need.

Kemar Roach Wins Man Of The Series

West Indies right arm pacer 22-year-old Kemar Roach has won the Man of the Test Series in Sri Lanka. Roach got 10 wickets in the Test series at 24.5 runs each.

His best figures were 5 for 100 in the second test match. In the 10 test matches Roach played, he picked up 36 wickets at an average of 28.25. The one-day international series with the West Indies and Sri Lanka were called off because of constant rain.
