Player of The Tournament Award

FORT DE FRANCE, Martinique Digicel, sponsor of Caribbean Football, on Monday announced the launch of the “Digicel Player of the Tournament Award” in the Digicel Caribbean Cup 2010.

The award will be decided based on the votes from various groups – including fans – who can go to www.digicelfootball.com to vote until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13.

In addition to online voting, votes will be taken from Digicel; the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) officials; team coaches (who cannot submit a vote for a player on their own team); the four official match commissioners and finally, the Digicel Caribbean Cup TV commentators.

The “Digicel Player of the Tournament Award” winner will be announced during the week of Monday Dec. 13 and will be followed by a prize-giving presentation.

In addition to live broadcast on regional terrestrial TV and radio stations, fans can also watch and listen to all the final matches via live streaming on www.digicelfootball.com The selected winner will receive a brand new Samsung Tablet, which has been touted as “a serious competitor to the Apple iPad, boasting two cameras, Flash compatibility, and a more convenient size.”

In addition to the “Digicel Player of the Tournament Award,” Digicel will also present the Digicel Golden Boot Award to the player who scores the most number of goals during the final 16 games. Currently, the player with the most number of goals is 25 year-old Jamaican left-winger, Luton Shelton, who scored two goals in Jamaica’s opening game against Antigua & Barbuda.

As the Digicel Caribbean Cup finals 2010 get underway in Martinique, the final eight teams that make up Groups H and I all have high hopes of making it into the top four with Cuba the only team through for certain following their win over Martinique last night.

All matches from the Finals will be aired live throughout the Caribbean along with coverage on FOX Television in North America. Live streaming – as well as radio commentary – is available on www.digicelfootball.com.
