Gloria Lynne sings her best notes

Make My Cake’s JoAnn Baylor’s mastery stole the show when members of Great Women In Music presented Gloria Lynne with a beautiful cake to celebrate and surprise the Jazz icon for her up and coming November birthday.

The multi-layered, cake entered the stage ablaze bringing Ms. Lynne to tears of joy. Now in its 10th season, Great Women In Music Festivals are an ongoing celebration of the many contributions women have made to music and the world.

On Friday, Oct. 22 at the Schomburg Library in Harlem special guest Ebony Jo-Ann and Congressman Charles B. Rangel took to the stage and shared their love and heartfelt Gloria Lynne stories for all to hear.

The theater was packed to capacity and boasted of an audience that included such luminaries as Dr. Ben and controversial politician and Councilmember Larry Seabrook.

Ms. Lynne performed in full concert and her voice was pure nirvana as she sang from her famous American song book. Moët Hennessey, Elizabeth Arden and Hats by Rosebud of N.Y. presented Ms. Lynne with beautiful gifts.

Heineken USA, co-sponsored the event and Black Opal Cosmetics and healthfirst presented Ms. Lynne’s audience with fabulous gift bags. The after concert party featured delicious food from some of Harlem’s most popular haunts, Grand Piatto, Amor Cubano, Ricardo Steak House, Aqua Fresca, A Taste of Sea Food, Andy’s, Green Apple BBQ and Pleasant Pastries.
