Hunte congratulates fast bowling duo

West Indies Cricket Board President Julian Hunte has lauded the contribution of legendary fast bowling duo Courtney Walsh and Joel Garner following their induction into the ICC Hall of Fame.

Walsh and Garner received their commemorative caps at the ICC Annual Awards in India recently, joining 13 other great West Indians on the prestigious list.

Hunte described the pair as “true ambassadors for West Indies cricket,” and “worthy recipients of such a great honor.”

“On behalf of the WICB I am consumed with pride in congratulating Courtney and Joel on being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” he said.

“During their playing careers they inspired countless fans across the globe as they gave their all for West Indies cricket.

“They demonstrated an absolute commitment to their people and this most fitting recognition is not only well-deserved but further commemorates the record of their truly outstanding careers and their respected place in the annals of our great game,” Hunte said.

Walsh, 48, claimed a West Indies record 519 wickets from 132 Tests and 227 wickets in 205 ODIs.

Garner, 57, nabbed 259 wickets from 58 Tests at a miserly average of 20.97.
