4 TIMES THE FUN

Hot on the heels of the most successful year in franchise history, the legendary Harlem Globetrotters will celebrate their 85th consecutive season when their dazzling “4 Times the Fun” World Tour brings two games to Newark on Dec. 30, followed by six more games in the NYC area from Feb. 18 to 21, 2011.

Five Globetrotters from the NYC area are scheduled to play near their hometown. Bam Bam Bamiro (Central Islip /Stony Brook University) and Cheese Chisholm (the Bronx) are scheduled to play at the Prudential Center on Dec. 30.

Slick Willie Shaw (the Bronx / St. John’s University), rookie Globetrotter Zeus Stewart (Queens / New York Institute of Technology), and Hammer Harrison (Brooklyn) are scheduled to play in all six NYC area games from Feb. 18 to 21. Shaw was a four-year starter at St. John’s, where he led them to the 2003 NIT Championship and holds the school record for most career three pointers.

Big Easy Lofton and Flight Time Lang, who competed on the Amazing Race on CBS in the fall of 2009, are also scheduled to play in all six NYC area games in February. Player rosters are subject to change.

“Our 85th season promises to be a landmark year, with never before seen innovations in the game,” says Michael Kenney, the Globetrotters’ senior vice president, live event marketing. “You’ll want to get your tickets now to witness firsthand what we have in store for our wonderful fans around the world.”

The North American leg of the 2011 World Tour will tip-off on Dec. 26, 2010, and runs until mid-April. The team will play more than 270 games in 220 cities in 45 states and six Canadian provinces.

The team is sponsored by Campbell Soup Company, Howard Johnson Hotels, America’s Best Contacts and Eyeglasses, Greyhound Lines, and Spalding.

The Original Harlem Globetrotters have played in 120 countries and territories on six continents, entertaining over 132 million fans and breaking down barriers between cultures, societies and people from all walks of life, earning induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
